Picture below: ACT science (physics) question: if you drop 7 cubes of ice from the 13th floor of a hotel, given that the acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s2, how long will it take for the 7 ice cubes to hit the head of someone walking in the lobby? (ahem, KA&YS. lol!)

  2. yeah, we stayed at the renaissance hotel in dallas, texas. that was when we were en route to houston for the MAS conference. it was so cool. the hotel was incredibly incredible (can i say that?) of course, at night, when i wanted to go to sleep, YS just kept on talking and talking and talking… that really upset me…

[full disclosure: i was actually happy that YS kept talking and talking and talking way into the night. and it didn’t really upset me. i was laughing like a hyena! of course, AmericanMuslim kind of quieted YS down… lol!]

  3. My attempts at doing a backflip were quite impressive if I do say so myself…

  4. Dear AM:

i couldn’t agree more. i was a witness, and i had an incredible view, cuz i was off on the other side. my score for your diving backflip: 9/10. (the entry was a little flawed, but the execution was otherwise perfect!)

  5. JC:

Thanks for the rating. I think the pain I endured sure deserved that 9/10 if nothing else 🙂

  6. Dear AM:

oh yeah. i forgot about the pain part of it! wasn’t it that your back/arms were already sore from moving stuff the day before or so? okay, i’ll bump up your score to a 9.5/10. but i can’t go any higher, okay? (actually, if you transfer some money into my bank account, i think i could find a way to give you a 10/10 for that backflip… hmm… lol!)

  7. Oh wow!! I completely forgot about the pain of my arms and how I like woke up at 4 AM and starting screaming b/c it hurt so bad… Wow… the memories…

  8. speaking of “pain,” that reminds me — KA and i were freezing our behinds off all night! as if the floor wasn’t comfortable enough! gosh… i still am impressed that there you all were, at the stroke of midnight (no exaggeration!), splashing around in the pool! that’s just awesome, man!

  9. AM:
    u tried to do a backflip?!lol!… i would’ve loved to see that!lol!jk,jk!

  10. Dear Iman:

not just “a” backflip. SEVERAL backflips.

not just “tried” to do. DID do.

i was too scared to even get in the pool, and here was AM, doing backflip after backflip, with no regard for the pain. that’s bravery right there. i was impressed, no doubt. (i WAS brave enough to go in the fitness room and get on the stationary bike, i’ll say that much. i know, not as impressive as doing backflips, but we do what we can. lol!).

  11. Dear JC:

I am thinking about entering the National Backflipping Championships. Want to be my coach?

  12. Dear AM:

i have just one question, and it’s the most important question: how much can you pay me? lol! of course, tiger woods’ caddie makes gazillions of dollars, so i’ll be expecting something of the same.

i do want to clarify something. you might be under the impression that i was a professional “backFLIPPER” myself. that’s actually not true. i was a professional “BURGER FLIPPER” at mcdonald’s. sorry for the confusion. lol!

  13. haha! i love swimming, especially the diving boards!i’ve done frontflips but never backflips!lol!..=)

Comment by Iman | Friday, January 19, 2007

  14. Dear Iman:

yeah, i myself used to do frontflips way back in my younger (ahem) days. i don’t know if i ever tried a backflip, though. i mean, it just seems like it’s unnatural and somehow too great an arc distance (or something) to work. and i don’t know if i’m even brave enough to try a front-flip now, cuz i’m already like 21 years old… plus or minus 8 years… lol!

  15. Diving boards? We don’t use diving boards… we are hardcore backflippers… All we need is a bucket of water 🙂

Comment by americanmuslim | Saturday, January 20, 2007

  16. Dear AM:

actually, that’s true. you did NOT use a diving board. you took off directly from the side of the pool. that makes the feat that much more impressive.
